Colonial Beach Town Council

Issues
My Top Priority
Enforcement, turnover and rising crime
Your Wallet, Your Money
Parks belong to
ALL the people.
We shouldn't be
kept in the dark.
There are no
small issues.
Infrastructure
Infrastructure is the glue that holds this town together and it is failing. Our roads, water and sewer, storm water management, sidewalks, and everything else that makes up our infrastructure must be brought up to 21 century standards.
Public Safety
Our public spaces feel less safe, with with a weapon beginning fired on an officer earlier this year and overall crime rate in Town is up almost significantly from 2016.
Fiscal Responsibility
We pay taxes so the government can provide the basic services we expect as citizens. Every dollar wasted is a hard-earned dollar taken unnecessarily from the families and businesses of Colonial Beach.
Parks
The parks belong to the people, not the elected representatives or special interests so the people should be consulted thoroughly before changes are made.
Transparency and Ethics
What I consider transparency, is for the town council to provide a real opportunity to the people of Colonial Beach to discuss issues, gather their input, and incorporate their opinions into decisions.
Other Issues
Medical Services
The medical services in Colonial Beach are not adequate and do not provide the basic needs of the citizens. Many of the residents of Colonial Beach go to other towns or cities for healthcare, dental and other basic needs. Emergency medical services are also a major concern because residents have to travel so far to get to a hospital. Medical services can be addressed by working with developers and leveraging tax incentives.
Parking
Colonial Beach needs a real parking plan, one that addresses current and future needs. Gravel is continually dumped everywhere and parking meters put in but I don’t see how this fits in with the overall promotion of our businesses. Do we really want to be the "parking lot on the Potomac"? It is time that the Town takes the impact of parking seriously and plans for the future.
Schools
Our schools are an asset to our community and we should do everything we can to ensure their success. Families look at schools and their quality before deciding to move to a town. Our teachers should receive the compensation they deserve to keep and increase the quality of education.
